Health & Fitness Assessment
Hoover Recreation Center members who sign up for twelve or more personal training sessions may request a free fitness assessment prior the first session and upon completion of the last session.  For membership information, click on the Membership link to the left.

Fitness assessment is a great tool for determining your current fitness level. By identifying your strengths and weaknesses, a trainer can better determine what areas to focus on.

Components of Health and Fitness Assessment
  • Body Composition - Body fat measurements utilize skin folds. Body fatness is a great determinant for a person’s risk of developing chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and coronary heart disease.
  • Cardiovascular Endurance - A three minute step test will be performed in order to estimate cardiovascular endurance
  • Flexibility - Flexibility is measured by a sit and reach test. Flexibility of the hamstrings is a good indicator of the risk for current or future low back pain.
  • Health History Questionnaire - Basic medical history allows for identification of cardiovascular risk factors and other special needs.
  • Muscular Endurance
    • Sit-ups - Poor abdominal strength and endurance is thought to contribute to muscular low back pain
    • Pushups - Upper body strength and endurance is a good indicator of overall muscular fitness.
  • Vital Signs - Resting heart rate and blood pressure
