Garbage & Recycling Pickup
All carts (trash and recycle) should be place at the curb no later than 7:00 AM the day of collection.

The workers on the trucks can not cross the street to gather bins that have been set out after the truck has gone past the home. If you set your can out late, you will have to wait until your next scheduled pickup date to have it emptied.

Inclement Weather
If wintry precipitation has left the streets with snow and/or ice, Republic Services will pull their trucks until the roads are deemed safe to travel. We ask for your patience during these times. The City of Hoover has many, many miles of roads. It may not be hazardous in your area but it could be in other areas of the city. Republic Services will take every precaution to protect their drivers and others on the road.

Holidays

Garbage, Trash & Recycle Pickup Services will be delayed 24 hours on holidays. Services will resume the following business day usually ending on Saturday. Holiday schedule is subject to change due to landfill opening and closing.

The five (5) holidays in which garbage pickup will be delayed are:
  • New Years Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If one of these holidays falls on a weekday (M-F), garbage service will be delayed by 24 hours.

Examples

  • If your trash is normally picked up on Friday and Christmas Day falls on Friday, your service will be delayed by 24 hours and your trash would be picked up on Saturday.
  • If Christmas Day fell on Wednesday, your recycling would be picked up on Thursday and Thursday's scheduled trash pickup would be on Friday and Friday's scheduled trash pickup would be on Saturday.

If the holiday falls on the weekend - there will be NO change in service.
