Are you interested in serving your city? The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission has an opening for a new member. The position is appointed by the Mayor for a six-year term. Members must be a resident of Hoover and be willing to serve solely on a voluntary basis. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets twice per month for one regular meeting and one work session. There are also times when special called meetings are required.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for:
Promoting municipal planning
Promoting and understanding the City’s master plan
Hearing cases for preliminary and final plats
Making recommendations to the City Council for conditional use and zoning
Members are expected to devote time to reviewing applications, plats and other documents relating to cases to determine if requirements of the zoning ordinances are met.
