Do you have too many plants, or want to give indoor gardening a try? Join us for trading houseplants, sharing tips and tricks, and getting to know other plant enthusiasts. Please bring in healthy plants, rooted in dirt/proper medium or loose cuttings and be ready to trade with others. We will also bring out the Houseplant Exchange, where you can bring in cuttings or plant babies for the general public to trade. LOCATION: Youth Program Room
Kora player Sean Gaskell returns to Hoover! Sean Gaskell first heard the kora performed live in his hometown of Olympia, Washington, USA in 2006. That performance by Kane Mathis, who would become his first teacher, inspired him to immerse himself in music of the kora and travel to its homeland in West Africa. Gaskell has presented adult, youth and family programs at over 350 libraries and a multitude of k-12 schools, colleges, universities and assisted living facilities throughout the United States and Canada. He is currently based in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. LOCATION: Plaza Wing
